monticello Red and I had the pleasure of taking a tour of Thomas Jefferson's "Little Mountain" while in Virginia for a friend's wedding this summer. Here he cultivated a vast library, tended to gardens of all sorts, honed the arts of brewing and wine making, and introduced America to classical French cuisine (you know, while he wasn't writing the Declaration of Independence, serving as Secretary of State, being President, or founding the University of Virginia). Photos aren't allowed in the main house where he kept his books, artifacts, tableware, and other accouterments but it's safe to say this guy was a collector and unrepentant tinkerer. It was invigorating to see the playground of such a renaissance man; we even picked up some inspiration along the way that you'll be seeing soon on the blog. --Brown
